Seems like Twitter is reaching its saturation point. The signal-to-noise ratio seems awfully low.

I'm very familiar with these 3 comments because I said the exact same thing in the beginning. Quite honestly I didn't like Twitter a lot.
Now, a few months later, I'm so glad I didn't give up on the platform. It's amazing how it enables one to build relationships with people you would probably never meet otherwise. It also enables me to learn a great deal every day.
Great post. I liked it :)

Twitter is a tool, not a goal. You have to have a reason to tweet when you come to Twitter, or you will leave. It's not a matter of quitting.

I know the first time I came to Twitter I left. Then, I decided to use Twitter to promote my blog, so I came back. My use of Twitter has shifted. I tweet too much, so I blog less. Ouch! But, Twitter becomes about the people you find who share your interests and don't run away from your opinions, because of the value you add. I meet many of my followers in person, so no, you are not talking to yourself.

It's always hard for me to find a minute to really dig into a social media vehicle like Twitter (unless I do it while I'm driving and THAT's not an option!) ... but I just culled my small-but-important group of follows down to a "power list" and I have renewed energy for harnessing the power of tweeting. Lois, you are absolutely in my "power list!" PS and thanks for inquiring - my knee is great for everything except sitting cross-legged on the floor, which I'm thrilled about!
