So true, Marc. A loyal customer is worth many times the value of a new customer. Yet encouraging clients to put loyalty programs in place is really quite the challenge.

Nicely put and oh so true.
Taking it one step further, having clumsy tracking and feedback systems in place is a sign of bad (and I hope for them costly) business management, but I'm really baffled by businesses that seem to go out of their way to penalize loyalty. I recently renewed my phone and home broadband contracts (two different companies) and not only did they not notice that my contract was about to expire and make me a loyalty offer, they both had in place incentives for new signups that they would not give to renewals. The only thing I can read from that is "we've already got you, so you're not as valuable to us"... surely the total opposite of what they should be thinking.

Throughout this great scheme of things you receive a B- with regard to hard work. Exactly where you actually lost us was first on all the facts. As it is said, the devil is in the details... And it couldn't be much more accurate at this point. Having said that, allow me say to you what did work. Your authoring can be pretty persuasive and this is possibly the reason why I am taking an effort to comment. I do not really make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, although I can notice the jumps in reasoning you come up with, I am not necessarily certain of how you seem to connect your points which inturn help to make the actual conclusion. For the moment I will, no doubt subscribe to your point however hope in the foreseeable future you actually link the dots better.

Lois,

I love your story and the fact that you were open to listening to the universe in the form of the old man at Burger Heaven. I'm honored that you're a part of my book.

I am proud of this human spirit in you. I admire the need that must have existed at the time you chose to go it alone, for surely alone you felt.
But...
I am glad to read of the success you have found, and I am sure the price and the cost have been rich too!
Thanks for posting this little titbit about the Lady I follow and admire. Billy

Sweepstakes are adapting and at lightening speed. For those direct marketers who no longer use snail mail, Facebook and Twitter can engage the consumer at a mere fraction of the cost. Sweeps and contest are a key to this engagement.
